EPPS, LEE HONORED BY NATIONAL ACADEMY OF INVENTORS
The National Academy of Inventors has elected two University of Delaware researchers to status as fellows — Kelvin Lee (left) and Thomas H. Epps, III. Lee is the Gore Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UD and Institute Director for the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL). Epps is the Allan and Myra Ferguson Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UD with a joint appointment in Materials Science and Engineering.
SURFACE EXPLORATION
After two years of exploratory research supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, Wagner and STF Technologies, the company he co-founded with UD alum Rich Dombrowski, have invented an instrument that will give researchers a new perspective on what is happening at the surface where various things meet — air and water, for example, or oil and water, or in that biological context where cellular building blocks known as lipids meet biopharmaceuticals or other materials.

Three professors from the University of Delaware — Wendy Smith, Rodrigo Vargas and Yushan Yan — have been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers for 2021 by Clarivate, a global analytics company.
