The Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Program at the University of Delaware is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
THE EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES OF OUR DEPARTMENT ARE:
- To provide students with the breadth of educational opportunities in the chemical and biological sciences and in engineering that will enable them to pursue productive careers.
- To maintain an environment that enables students to identify and pursue their personal and professional goals within an innovative educational program that is rigorous and challenging as well as flexible and supportive.
- To educate graduates who will be able to apply their knowledge of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, including their problem solving, analytical, design, and communication skills, in the private or public sectors and/or in the pursuit of more advanced degrees.
- To cultivate graduates who will actively seek to provide technical, educational, public sector and/or business leadership in a rapidly changing, increasingly technological, global society and who recognize their professional responsibility toward the betterment of our community.
Program Educational Goals
Graduates of the Chemical Engineering (BCHE) program will be able to:
- Apply mathematics, science, and engineering principles to solve chemical engineering problems.
- Apply engineering design principles to solve chemical engineering problems considering public health, safety, and cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations.
- Function effectively on a team as a member and as a team leader.
- Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation and modeling, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to reach conclusions from the results.
- Acquire and apply new knowledge to solve chemical engineering problems.
