Undergrad chemical engineering program ranked 9th

The University of Delaware is ranked 33rd among national public universities in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges 2018 edition, placing it in the top 25 percent of public universities evaluated.

Overall, UD is 81st among more than 300 public, private and for-profit national universities reviewed.

In specific discipline rankings, UD is ninth in the nation among undergraduate chemical engineering programs where the highest engineering degree offered is a doctorate. Overall, UD’s undergraduate engineering program is ranked at 56, up two spots from last year’s ranking of 58.

The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics is ranked No. 78 among the best undergraduate business programs, up 16 spots from last year’s ranking of 94.

UD is ranked No.44 among best colleges for veterans, up three spots from last year’s ranking of 47.

The high school counselor rankings have UD tied at 90 with 15 other schools including Seton Hall University, Temple University, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Pittsburgh, University of San Diego, and University of South Carolina.

UD is also included in the list of “A-plus schools for B students,” a category that includes schools where a student’s “spirit and hard work” can play a part in admissions decisions.

The U.S. News list of national universities is led by Princeton University, Harvard University, the University of Chicago, Yale University, Columbia University and Stanford University.

For this ranking, U.S. News used qualitative measures, including undergraduate academic reputation based on assessments from academic peers and high school guidance counselors, and quantitative data from 2016, such as retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving.

Earlier this year, U.S. News published its Best Graduate Schools rankings, which included several UD programs. For more information on those rankings, click here.
